Workshop in Monetary Economics 2019

The Bernoulli Center for Economics (University of Basel) hosts a Workshop in Monetary Economics for Ph.D. students in Marrakech from June 8-15, 2019.

Description of topic

The “Workshop in Monetary Economics for Ph.D. students” supports interaction and research collaboration between Ph.D students and established researchers working in monetary economics (i.e., monetary theory, monetary policy, macroeconomics, international macroeconomics).

Goal

The main goal is to prepare the Ph.D. students for the academic job market by providing valuable input for their research and improve their presentation style. Furthermore, we also aim to foster the collaboration between the University of Basel, the University of Bern and the Université Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech.

We usually have between 10 and 12 Ph.D. students participating and between three and four advisors. Most student participants are from the University of Basel. We always invite students from the University of Bern and sometimes from the University of Zurich. We typically invite two international students and two local students from the Université Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech.

Student contribution

Every student participant is required to make a 90 minutes time presentation including discussion. If the experts deem it necessary, the participant has to present a second time taking the experts’ advice into account.
